DONCASTER CARPET CLEANERS

Terms and Conditions of Service

Last updated: 14th July 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to carpet, upholstery, rug, leather and other cleaning services provided by Doncaster Carpet Cleaners.

By booking or instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, provided they have been brought to your attention before the contract is agreed.

We aim to provide a professional, reliable service, using appropriate cleaning methods, equipment and products, and exercising reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights.

2. Bookings and Access

Customers must provide accurate information about the items or areas requiring cleaning, including any known damage, previous cleaning problems, special treatments or other relevant circumstances.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that suitable access to the premises is available at the agreed appointment time.

Where work is arranged through a letting agent, managing agent or other representative, arrangements for access and securing the property must be agreed in advance.

We do not normally collect or return keys from letting or managing agents. A representative must be available to provide access and secure the property afterwards, unless alternative arrangements have been expressly agreed.

3. Prices and Quotations

Quotations are based on the information provided by the customer and, where applicable, our inspection of the items or premises.

We reserve the right to revise a quotation where the actual condition, size, construction or cleaning requirements differ materially from those originally described.

Any additional charges will be explained and agreed before the additional work is undertaken.

4. Carpet and Upholstery Inspection and Testing

Doncaster Carpet Cleaners takes reasonable precautions to identify suitable cleaning methods for carpets, upholstery and other materials.

Where appropriate, we carry out visual inspections, fibre identification, colourfastness testing and other relevant checks in accordance with recognised industry practices.

However, inspection and testing cannot guarantee that every material will respond safely or predictably to cleaning.

Many carpets contain backing materials, adhesives, secondary layers and construction components that cannot be fully identified without lifting or dismantling the carpet.

Similarly, upholstery fabrics may contain hidden backing materials, adhesives, interlinings, unstable dyes or manufacturing treatments that cannot be identified through normal inspection.

It is not normally practical or appropriate to dismantle carpets or upholstered furniture to examine their internal construction.

Although we use reasonable care, professional judgement and appropriate testing, these procedures cannot identify every potential problem.

5. Shrinkage, Colour Loss and Fabric Instability

Certain carpets, rugs and upholstery fabrics may be susceptible to shrinkage, stretching, colour bleeding, dye migration, fading, watermarking, pile distortion or other changes during cleaning.

These risks may arise from factors including:

  • Fibre composition and construction.
  • Hidden backing materials, adhesives or interlinings.
  • Unstable dyes or manufacturing defects.
  • Previous cleaning or chemical treatments.
  • Fabric protectors, coatings or finishes.
  • Age, wear, sunlight exposure or existing deterioration.
  • Moisture sensitivity and other inherent material characteristics.

Some modern upholstery fabrics are particularly difficult to assess because their precise composition, internal construction and previous treatment history may be unknown.

Even where preliminary testing produces satisfactory results, this does not guarantee that the entire item will respond in the same manner.

We cannot guarantee that shrinkage, discolouration, dye movement or other material changes will not occur.

We will exercise reasonable care and skill when selecting and applying cleaning methods and will explain any significant risks identified before proceeding.

Where a material presents an unacceptable risk, we reserve the right to decline cleaning or recommend an alternative approach.

We are not responsible for damage arising solely from inherent material defects, pre-existing deterioration or characteristics that could not reasonably have been identified through appropriate inspection and testing, provided we have exercised reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in this section excludes liability for damage caused by our negligence or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

6. Previous Treatments and Unknown Material History

Customers should inform us of any known previous cleaning, stain removal, fabric protection, dyeing, repairs or chemical treatments, use of shop brought sprays and spoters etc.

Previous treatments may affect the way materials respond to subsequent cleaning, even where no visible evidence of those treatments remains.

We cannot guarantee the outcome of cleaning where the history or composition of a material is unknown.

This does not remove our responsibility to exercise reasonable care and skill.

7. Stain Removal

Our standard cleaning services include reasonable efforts to treat stains where appropriate.

However, we do not guarantee complete stain removal.

Some substances, including dyes, cosmetics, fake tan, hair colouring, inks and other staining agents, may permanently alter fibres or fabrics.

Previous attempts at stain removal may also have caused permanent damage.

We will use our professional judgement when treating stains and may stop treatment where continuing would create an unreasonable risk of damage.

The customer acknowledges that some stains may remain visible following cleaning.

8. Existing Wear, Damage and Deterioration

Cleaning may reveal previously concealed wear, fading, discolouration, pile damage or other deterioration.

Heavy soiling can sometimes conceal existing defects that become more apparent once the material has been cleaned.

We cannot guarantee that cleaning will restore carpets or upholstery to their original appearance or condition.

We will take reasonable care to identify visible defects before cleaning, but cannot guarantee identification of hidden or pre-existing damage.

9. Drying Times and Ventilation

Drying times vary depending on the material, cleaning method, temperature, humidity, ventilation and degree of soiling.

Carpets may typically take approximately two to six hours to dry, while upholstery may require overnight drying or longer in some circumstances.

These are estimates rather than guaranteed drying times.

The customer is responsible for providing reasonable ventilation and, where appropriate, heating after cleaning, in accordance with our advice.

We cannot accept responsibility for problems arising solely from a customer’s failure to follow reasonable drying and ventilation instructions.

This does not exclude liability where a problem results from our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

10. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due upon completion of the work.

Where payment by invoice has been agreed, the invoice must be paid within the payment period stated on it.

For letting agents, managing agents and other commercial customers, our standard invoice payment period is seven calendar days unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Payment may be made using the methods agreed when the work is booked or invoiced.

11. Third-Party Invoicing and Responsibility for Payment

Doncaster Carpet Cleaners is happy to issue invoices to landlords, property owners, managing agents, businesses or other nominated third parties at the request of the original instructing client.

However, unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing, the person or business contracting with Doncaster Carpet Cleaners to undertake the work remains responsible for payment.

Where an invoice is issued to a nominated third party and payment has not been received within 10 calendar days of the invoice date, we reserve the right to invoice the original contracting client for the outstanding amount.

The original contracting client agrees to settle that outstanding amount within 7 calendar days of the date of the subsequent invoice.

Nominating a third party to receive an invoice does not, by itself, transfer contractual responsibility for payment.

Where a person acts on behalf of a company or other organisation, responsibility for payment will be determined by the contractual arrangements and the authority under which that person acts.

Any payments already received will be deducted from the outstanding balance. No amount will be recovered more than once.

12. Late Payment

We reserve the right to pursue unpaid invoices through appropriate debt recovery procedures.

For qualifying business-to-business transactions, we may claim statutory late-payment interest, fixed compensation and reasonable recovery costs where permitted by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

For consumer customers, any interest or recovery costs will be limited to those lawfully recoverable.

We will not impose disproportionate or unlawful late-payment penalties.

13. Letting Agents and Managing Agents

Where cleaning is instructed by a letting or managing agent, the agent must ensure that suitable arrangements are made for access, supervision where necessary, and securing the property on completion.

The agent or other contracting party must also ensure that reasonable ventilation and drying arrangements are in place.

Any return visit required solely because reasonable aftercare instructions were not followed may be chargeable, provided the charge is reasonable and agreed in advance.

Agents should not instruct us to undertake work unless the applicable booking, access and payment arrangements are acceptable.

14. Complaints and Concerns About Cleaning

We aim to resolve any genuine concerns promptly and fairly.

Customers should inspect cleaned items once sufficiently dry and notify us of any concerns as soon as reasonably possible.

We request that concerns are reported within 48 hours of completion, where practicable, as this allows us to investigate while the circumstances are still recent.

Where necessary, we may arrange to inspect the item and consider appropriate remedial action.

The 48-hour period is a request for prompt notification and does not remove or restrict any statutory rights or prevent customers from raising legitimate concerns discovered later.

Where a problem results from our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.

15. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are asked to:

  • Provide accurate information about items requiring cleaning.
  • Disclose known damage, previous treatments or material concerns.
  • Arrange suitable access to the premises.
  • Remove fragile or valuable items from working areas where reasonably practical.
  • Follow reasonable drying, ventilation and aftercare instructions.
  • Ensure children and pets are kept away from equipment and treated areas where necessary for safety.

We will take reasonable precautions to protect the premises and surrounding furnishings while carrying out our work.

16. Cancellation and Rescheduling

Customers should give as much notice as reasonably possible if an appointment needs to be cancelled or rearranged.

We reserve the right to reschedule work where access is unavailable, conditions are unsafe or circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent the service from being carried out.

Any cancellation charges, where applicable, will be reasonable, reflect actual losses and comply with consumer protection law.

Where a consumer has a statutory right to cancel a distance or off-premises contract, that right will apply in accordance with the relevant legislation.

17. Limitation of Liability

Doncaster Carpet Cleaners will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing its services.

We do not guarantee particular cleaning results, complete stain removal or the absence of material changes where those outcomes depend on inherent characteristics or conditions beyond our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits a consumer’s statutory rights or our responsibility for failing to exercise reasonable care and skill.

18. Privacy and Personal Information

We may collect and use personal information reasonably necessary to arrange appointments, provide services, issue invoices, maintain records and communicate with customers.

Further information about how we handle personal data is available in our separate Privacy Policy on our website.

19. Website Use and Intellectual Property

The content, photographs, text, graphics and other materials on our website are owned by Doncaster Carpet Cleaners or used with appropriate permission, unless otherwise stated.

Website content may not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without permission, except where permitted by law.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that website information is accurate and current.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The version applicable to a particular booking will normally be the version provided or brought to the customer’s attention when the contract was agreed, unless subsequent changes are expressly agreed.

Updated terms will be published on our website.

21. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in this section restricts any mandatory consumer rights or legal protections.
